The artistry for this movie was amazing. But I think they could have done better on the other people's tribes- the Lockni and the Nohrin. I think they put a lot of effort into the art for the scenery, but when it came to the people, they were not very creative. This movie might be a little dark for younger kids."

Rating: An enjoyable movie. But from listening to my children talk about it, there was a lot of fighting and killing in this movie-in cartoon form. The 4 year old said it was too scary and the older girls confirmed that it was fighting and war pretty much the whole movie.

Mom's rating: Ok for older kids, but might be boring even for some of them. Not good for younger kids as there is a lot of violence.

Bells Of Innocence

Movie Reviewed: Bells Of Innocence
Reviewer: H. Motley 15 yr. girl

"First off, for being a low budget movie, this was pretty good. It shows how there really are things out there beyond our understanding that can harm us, but there is also a God. Even though his movie was good and had an awesome Christian message, it is not suitable for younger children. There are a lot of scary parts that would be too much for them to handle."

Rating: "Good movie, but LOW BUDGET, so the special effects are pretty cheesy."

Mom's notes: My daughter asked for this movie a while back and it just made it to the top of our netflix list. She was the only one interested in it, so she's the only reviewer. I watched a few minutes of it and can attest to the cheesy factor. This movie has Chuck Norris and his son in the title rolls. Unfortunately that is not enough to save this movie from mediocrity. It has a Christian message as demons try to take over a town and a few good men, aided by angels, try to save the townspeople. I applaud the effort, but it just comes off as a bad b rated movie.

Mom's rating: If anyone enjoys this movie, it would be for older kids and those who are interested in Christian themed movies. Might be good entertainment for those who enjoy cheesy special effects. ;)

Hannah Montana The movie

Movie Reviewed: Hannah Montana
Reviewers: H. Motley- When I first heard that they were going to make a Hannah Montana movie I wasn't all that excited. I'm not really a Hannah fan. But then I watched the movie and was surprised. It was actually pretty good. The storyline was really good. It showed how Miley grew up and where she came from. Throughout the movie, she remembers why she became Hannah in the first place and gets back to her roots. All in all, a pretty good movie.

Rating: "I might watch this movie once a month or so."

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 10px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_IIjpmUfqDNI/SqXJLaCF4oI/AAAAAAAAAcg/dG1mIZPd_uI/s400/stline8.gif" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5378926527767765634" />

Mom's notes: When my 6yr old asked to watch this movie, I cringed, but put it on our list. I have to say I really cannot stand the show as it gets on my nerves. The movie however, was quite different than the show. Though it did have some of the silly slapstick style they overdo on the show, it was minimal and they focused more on the storyline. Though the 11yr old boy opted out of viewing this movie, everyone else watched it including dad. While it wasn't a great movie, it was watchable and in some spots actually interesting and enjoyable for me. It is one movie as an adult I could probably deal with watching a few more times, but not one I could tolerate on repeat mode as the younger kids like to do. (over and over and over...) It was however, a very clean movie with a few good lessons for kids to pull out of it.

Mom's rating: Mildly interesting movie for adults or teens. Younger girls will enjoy it more and it's clean enough for all ages. Mostly for girls ages 4-12 who are into Hannah Montana.

The End of the Spear

Movie reviewed: The End of the Spear
Reviewers: H. Motley- 15yr old girl, G. Motley- 14yr old girl

H. Motley- "This movie was amazingly done. It showed really well how missionaries go out every day to foreign countries or sometimes even their own homes and tell people about God. It shows that it is not always easy to go out and help people. Sometimes you end up risking your lives just to be able to reach one person. This movie really made me think about what actually goes on out there and that it's not always the funnest place to be. It really changes your perspective on things. And that's what I really like about this movie. It makes you think."

Rating: "I could watch this movie over and over nonstop. It's just that good."

G. Motley- " End of the spear was a truly amazing movie. It definitely brought a new meaning to the word compassion. Based on a true story, this movie will have even the toughest people in tears over how five men gave their lives to bring the love of Jesus to others."
Rating: "While this movie may be too violent for children under 13, I would definitely recommend it for teens and adults."

Mom's notes: This was a great historical movie based on a true story. It is a great movie to help adults and teens to think about others and not just themselves. It tells of the amazing story of missionaries trying to help one of the most violent Indian tribes to learn to live peacefully, and in effect, grow old and not become extinct. If you want your teens to watch something that will make them think about the world and people around them, this is a great movie for that! But this movie is very violent- in the sense of tribal violence, not like other movies today that are violent just for fun; it shows men being speared and implies children and women being killed. It also shows some nakedness on the tribal members. (A young girl without a shirt and men wearing thong like wraps.)

Mom's rating: Great educational, historical, inspirational movie. Only recommended for ages 13 and older and only if they can handle the violent scenes as they can be disturbing, and are mature enough to handle the partial nudity.

Ice Age 2

Movie Reviewed: Ice Age 2
Reviewers: G. Motley- "This was an incredibly funny movie! It's a good movie for all ages from small children to adults. It's definitely a movie you can watch once or twice, but then you have to wait a while before you can watch it again. It's not as funny anymore when you can quote it word for word."

Rating: "Over all, I'd give it an 8."

Mom's notes: This movie had all the kids laughing! Though we've seen it before, it is one of the little girls' favorites. (As you can tell by the teenagers review above, we have seen it a few times.) They do use a few play on words in the movie for curse words that young children might pick up on and repeat. (They use a-- as a word for a burro, but make it obvious that it's also a bad word and the beaver uses the word dam the same way-making it funny for little kids to repeat.) There is also a very reference to the need to repopulate and some sexual innuendo there, but I doubt most younger kids would get it. In my house, this movie gets a 75 out of 90 minutes rating on the attention span rating scale. (This means my most hyper kids sat still for 75 out of the 90 minutes of this movie.) This rating would be higher, but they have already seen this one a few times.

Mom's rating: Good family comedy. Can be enjoyed by all ages, though teens to adults might not enjoy it as much after the first viewing. Younger children will likely want to watch it over and over again.

Race To Witch Mountain

Movie reviewed: Race to Witch Mountain
Reviewers: H. There were some parts that might be a bit scary for young children, but it was a pretty good family movie. There was no bad language and no mature content."

Rating- "An awesome movie I would recommend to everyone."

H. Motley- "This movie didn't hold that much interest for me. While the casting was good, the storyline wasn't that great. It moved too fast and was very different than the original Witch Mountain movies. The one thing I did like was that throughout the whole movie, the tiny little taxi they drove never stopped working once despite the tons of damage done to it. The action scenes were pretty cool too. But after the first half hour, I kind of lost interest.

Rating- "It was just ok, I might watch it every once in a while."

Mom's notes: The two children who are really into action movies really enjoyed this movie. If you like a lot of fast-paced action and explosions, car chases, and car crashes, this movie has plenty of that in a family setting. Other than that, they story line was a little weak and it does not hold the same appeal as the first two movies. It's definitely more of an action movie than it is a sci-fi movie. But it wasn't horrible to watch. It did not hold the attention of the 4yr old for more than 10 minutes and the 6yr old saw most of it, but got up a couple of times.

Mom's rating: Good, family action movie that's clean! If you're not into it for the action, then it's Ok, but not great. Some violence and action scenes might be too scary for younger children. Will hold the most interest for ages 6-12 and maybe some teens, but still a decent movie the whole family could watch and enjoy together.

17 Again

Movie Reviewed: 17 Again
Reviewed by: H. But there were some serious moments too that were really good and almost made me cry. I think Zac Efron did a really good job in this movie. He played a convincing 37 year old trapped in a 17 year old's body."

Rating: "This is a movie I would not get bored with."

G. Motley- "17 Again is one of the funniest movies I've ever seen! I think they did an awesome job on the story and casting Zac Efron as the main character was a smart idea. It also has a very touching ending. But it was definitely not geared for young children. There was some foul language and sexual references."

Rating: "Over all, a very enjoyable movie."

Mom's notes: As noted above, this movie has bad language and quite a bit of sexual references and dialogue. So, be careful of younger children watching. The movie itself was a lot better than I actually expected it to be. With Zac Efron in the lead, I expected it to be too much of a teen movie for me as an adult to enjoy. But I was laughing right along with the kids and the movie played well to the adults too. Zac Efron showed he has some real talent and in my opinion, he acted circles around everyone else in this movie. I really believed he was 37, not just a teen trying to play older as in some of the other body-switch type movies. (Lindsay Lohan) In the end, it also delivers a good message-that family is worth fighting for.

Mom's rating: A very entertaining movie for teens and older. Teen girls will be drawn in by Zac and will be the largest part of the audience, but there is plenty of stuff in it for boys too. Good for ages 13+ (if your teens are mature enough to handle the sexual content) and adults too!

Pahappahooey Island: What About Me?

Movie reviewed: Pahappahooey Island: What About Me?
Reviewed by: S. It also teaches that friendship is better than any treasure."
Rating: "I think that any young child would enjoy this movie."

Mom's notes:
This movie is an "inspirational kids" movie. Meaning it's supposed to teach positive values. It's characters are puppets, and there are two episodes on this disk. As a parent, I watched the first episode and zoned out for the second one. The teen reviewer was asleep on the couch the second episode. So, it's definitely geared for younger children. That said, I did laugh in a few spots during the one episode I watched, but this is no Veggie Tales.

The two younger reviewers did seem to enjoy it and sat still throughout the first episode-even the hyper 4yr old. During the second episode, they watched it while talking, coloring, looking for snacks, leaving the room for whatever and then coming back, etc. So on an attention span rating, I'd give it a 30 minutes out of about 60 minutes total AS rating. (AS=attention span) So, if you're going to put this in for your younger children, know you will probably get 30 minutes max of "free time for mom" before they start getting bored and are up again.

Mom's rating: Just Ok, rated best for kid's ages 2-6

Pride and Prejudice

This is the 2005 version with Keira Knightley.
This was reviewed by H. The story centers around Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy, who are both determined to keep their love for each other a secret. The relationship between the two shows true love at it's best. All in all, an amazing movie." She rated this movie: "I could probably watch this movie every night."

Mom's notes: H. Motley has not read this Jane Austin book yet, but will likely be on her reading list in the near future. In my opinion, this movie is not one of the best movie adaptations for this book, but it's still good. If you have teenage girls who like romance, then they will like this movie. It's also a good introduction to the classics. I would recommend this movie mostly for girls ages 12 and older.

There is maybe one curse word in the whole movie and a few sexual references, but very mild, compared to most of the movies that are geared for teens today.

Digimon: The Movie

Our First movie to review was from reviewer E. Though the story continued throughout the movie, the characters and animation changed with the new sections as they came up. I would definitely watch this movie again."

Mom's notes:
My son thoroughly enjoyed this movie. My 6 year old daughter (who has a longer attention span) sat through most of it and said she liked the theme song. My 4 year old daughter (who can rarely sit still) only watched about 1/4 of the movie. She said she enjoyed it, despite not seeing most of it. The teenagers bailed.

As an adult, this movie was painful for me to sit through. I made it through about 2/3 of the movie before I remembered I had to wash my hair and I bailed too. If your child is into Pokemon and that type of game or show, then they will probably like this movie. If not, then they probably won't get or enjoy this movie. In my opinion, it has a very limited audience. But if your child is into it, this is a great movie to pop in and keep them occupied while you do something in another room.

This movie has some fighting as the good digimon fight the bad digimon, but the violence is pretty low. I would recommend this movie for kids 6-12 and only if they like the genre. (Pokemon, Yugioh, etc.)
